@Home is looking for talented, creative editors and artists to help create
the first broadband multimedia Internet service.
@Home is a Silicon Valley-based joint venture between Tele-Communications
Inc., the nation's largest cable-TV company, and Kleiner Perkins Caufield &
Byers, a venture-capital firm that has backed such startup companies as
Netscape, Sun, Macromedia and Compaq. This spring, @Home will begin rolling
out a sophisticated service based on cable-modem technology and an
innovative international network backbone to deliver Internet services to
homes at speeds up to 10 megabits per second (700 times faster than 14.4, 80
times faster than ISDN). This is not a test or a pilot; @Home's launch this
spring in Sunnyvale, CA, will be the beginning of an aggressive national and
international rollout over the next few years. (For more details about
@Home, see http://www.home.net)
@Home will create a series of constantly updated Home pages and other areas
to help subscribers navigate the content on the Web in general and
multimedia Web content in particular. These @Home pages will combine text,
graphics, animation and streaming audio and video to create an entirely new
online experience.
We're putting together a small team to begin building these pages almost
immediately, and will be expanding our staffing over the next couple of
years. We're seeking applicants from the print, video, online and multimedia
software fields for immediate openings in the following positions:
Editor/Harvester
This position combines Web-surfing and editing skills. Persons in this job
will gather content for the @Home pages from @Home content partners and the
Web in general and decide how links to that content will be presented. This
will involve constantly scanning the Web, choosing the coolest sites to
display, updating the pages on a constant basis and creating interesting and
compelling ways to display those links using video, animation graphics and
text. Ideal candidates for this position will have strong backgrounds in
print or broadcast journalism as well as strong interests and experience
with the World Wide Web, preferably including HTML-authoring experience.
Online Artist
This position involves a variety of graphic-arts and computer graphics
skills, ranging from traditional graphic design to proficiency in Macromedia
Director and HTML. This position will work closely with the Web Harvesters
in designing and constructing pages for @Home, as well as future content
projects such as information graphics, video editing, animation, and special
design elements. Ideal candidates for this position will have strong
backgrounds in graphic arts and design, plus skills in Director, HTML
authoring and related technologies.
Over the next few weeks, we also expect to post openings for video
producers, technicians and personalities. In addition, @Home has a number of
openings for advertising sales, affiliate relations and other
business-oriented positions. See our Web site for details.
These are all fulltime positions, based at @Home's headquarters in Silicon
Valley. We hope to assemble a cohesive, hard-working, friendly, creative
team that can help us create a vital, exciting new medium and build a
successful business. Salary will be commensurate with experience, and @Home
offers a full benefits package, including the possibility of stock options.
@Home is an equal-opportunity employer.
