How the Web Was Won

How many people actually read the Post? Paid circulation is about 800K.
If the avg. readership is 1.5 per copy, that's 1.2 million readers,
roughly, daily. How many people get Digital Ink? I remember being
shocked that in June, less than 3,000 people subscribed to Nando.net for
a digital paper + Internet access (source -- an article in Adweek).
Granted it is still accessible to non-subscribers via the Internet, and
Digital Ink isn't.

In short, I'm hypothesizing that a lot more people who read the Post who
have Internet access don't do it through the Digital Ink. Hence, not
much additional revenue to the Post, specifically.

If it's true that the avg. AOL user spends less than 5 hours/mo. online
(unlike the heavy users of chat), I wonder how Digital Ink compares,
being an information service primarily, how many hours on the big
Internet, etc. Oh, to be privy to proprietary information.....

Nonetheless, an interesting point.
