You forgot the punch-line. Taxes on $2400/month (State, Federal, FICA,
and Sales) run about $1200. Leaving a take-home pay of $1200/month, not
including deductions for insurance, costs of employment, and retirement.
The mother, by getting $600+$800 gets $1400, MORE than if she had stayed
married, AND she gets Medicaid, School Lunch Discounts, and Head Start,
another $400/month (paid for out of dad's taxes of course). Then of
course, there is section 8 housing.... and of course administration costs.
Dad's tapped out, who pays for the rest?
