Laurie Ford sent the following two messages to members of the Fulfillment
Team--and I thought that they would be of value to each of us.
>From Laurie:
Hello Leader-People. I had to copy my notes on the last 15 minutes of the
Partnership weekend for someone who left early, and I thought you might like
to see my version of what was said:
THE LAST 15 MINUTES
The fields (MC, FC, PS, AA) have lots of conversations in them that reinforce
identities.
The field Partnership has nothing in it.
Everything that has ever already been said happens in the first 4 fields.
Once we have the ability to see different conversations in EACH of these 4
fields,
We have room for creation.
What is already there in our lives, in our originating circles, in our
conversations,
Is a gift that creates an opening for something new, gives us the gift of
creation.
If you're committed to something new, it helps to know the gift.
Say you are accountable. Say it publicly.
When you can hear the field in which the voices on the stage are speaking,
You have the opportunity to speak in Partnership.
We live in a world of our own design.
Ask the 3 questions.
We don't have any conversations that point back to Partnership.
Conversations that point back to Partnership are only available
By having people to talk to.
So these conversations do not continue by themselves.
The character of the field disappears.
Adult @ Possibility - Adult @ Possibility: gives a world of our own design.
A world of empowerment.
Partnership conversations are all Type 3 conversations.
The field is only presenced when something passes through it -
a Partnership conversation.
The more language we bring to the field,
The more we make space for transformation in communities, institutions.
Living in a world of your own design, you are not your history.
We are given what is already being spoken, what already exists.
It speaks through us: we don't ever need to speak in our own name.
We have all this available as a gift, given by the society, culture, world,
language.
We can BE the gift, or we can HAVE it, and BE what has never been.
Speaking a language of our own design.
Speaking to Adults as Possibility.
Speaking for a world.
Hi Everyone - this is the homemwork game I'm in this time. For each person in
my circle, I pasted this questionnaire into their section of my Community
book. Then I fill in the answers as I have conversations with them.
M/C ____% F/C ____% P/S ____% A/A ____% AP/AP ____%
If I consider myself as one who has the opportunity to be ADULT AS POSSIBILITY
constituted by conversations from the 5 fields, then:
1. For what could I be accountable in my originating circle? (What is the
stage of accountability upon which I could appear within this originating
circle?)
2. Who are the participants in this conversation?
3. What language is speaking?
4. With whom is the speaking?
5. For what is the speaking?
6. Have the conversation:
6a. What is the stage of accountability on which I could appear in my
originating circle?
6b. What conversations are arising in the field Partnership?
6c. What reorganization of life do these conversations call for?
7. If the field Partnership gave a big percentage of my relationships, what
controls are lost?
EXAMPLE:
With Jeffrey I could be accountable for the velocity of his project to have a
conference next Spring on "language and management".
Participants - Jeffrey, Maribeth, Jeffrey's colleagues at OSU College of
Business, potential conference participants, etc.
Language - A language of completion, power, and commitment.
With - With adults who are committed to giving power and capacities to people
in organizations and institutions.
For - For having people be present to the accomplishment of the work they are
doing, and specific about the next steps to take for the fulfillment of their
commitment.
NOTE - I made all this up by myself. Now I need to take it to Jeffrey and
re-write it to use his/our language instead of just my own. When I have that
conversation, I will be able to answer question 6a. If any Partnership
conversations arise, I'll record them for 6b. And I'm clear that taking any
accountability with him will require a reorganization of my life (6c), so once
I know 6a and 6b, I'll be able to answer 6c.
For some people in my originating circle I can't think of a single thing to be
accountable for. I'll just have to get a conversation going about
accountability with them and see what happens.
RE: question #7, I don't know. I can't even think it yet.
Thanks, everyone, for playing this extraordinary game!
Laurie
